Betsy Walker grew up studying dance in her mother’s studio in Wilson, North Carolina. Before graduation from high school, she spent her summers studying ballet, modern, flamenco, jazz and Bharata Natyam in Bar Harbor, Maine and Estoril, Portugal. During these summers, she studied with Madame Hilda Butsova, George Zoritch, Anna Marie and David Holmes, Murray Lewis, Luis Montero and Nala Najan.
Christine “Cricket” Foster started her dance training at 8 years old. She danced with the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre in Maryland. She loved dancing in many Nutcracker productions as she grew up in her studio. One of her most memorable roles as a child was Small Alice in Alice in Wonderland in The Baltimore Ballet (Professional).
Essence Shoffner, from Liberty, NC, began dancing at the age of three in Burlington, NC. She trained in various styles of dance, such as African, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern. Essence continued her passion for dance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Fall of 2015.
Burlington Dance Center welcomes Juliana Gagliano. Juliana will be teaching Ballet to ages 3-7 on our 2020-2021 season.
Juliana, from Jamestown NC, began dancing at 14 as a part of a private liturgical dance group.
Burlington Dance Center welcomes Tara Rooks. Tara will begin teaching Acro, Jazz, and Tap in our 2020-2021 season.
Tara Rooks is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 2019 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Choreography and Performance.
