Princess ballerinas came in on day 2 with a spring in their step. I love watching them skip, tippy toe, and chasse to the ballet room. I sometimes tell Moms to peek and watch their daughters as they walk into the room all by themselves. I know all too well how quickly they grow and I hope they always have a spring in their step. Just imagine what our co-workers would do if we all skipped into work?
We had a great day filled with dance, crafts, games, and sing-a-longs. I had a wonderful “kind moment” happen when I separated some of our older campers from my 3 & 4 year old campers. It was time for them to show me what they had learned from Ms. Emilee and Ms. Hallie. I praised one dancer on her height she had with her jete. Laura Lee gave this dancer two high 5’s when the “praised” dancer got back in line. I had to take a moment and talk about that. It was the sweet gesture from a little girl who was happy that her ballerina friend had done well. We talked about how we inspire each other and that we all want to do our best… whatever our best is. I hope these sweet girls always keep that kind heart. BRAVO!
My youngest evening campers were so good last night and showed a new level of comfort. They are realizing that Miss Kim is really silly and that it is a nice place to be. Little steps are HUGE in the grand scheme of things. At 2 ½ you never know if a little one will separate without crying. I love how a tiny ballerina arrives the first day in Mom’s arms, the 2nd day holding a hand, and by the 3rd day they are running to the ballet room. It is simply the best feeling in the world. I do know from 30 years of experience, when teaching 2 ½ year olds to 3 year olds, it has to be on their terms. Once you gain their trust and love then all is right with the world. Sometimes it happens at 3 and sometimes it happens at 7 and the important lesson to learn is to never give up. Emotional maturity is different in each child. Keep in mind, I was in 6th grade when I started dancing.
I will let the pictures tell the story of what our day 2 & 3 consisted of. My assistants are wonderful and enjoying their “little sisters”. Frozen is Thursday and Friday and everyone is so excited! I am so thankful that I get to spend this time with these adorable little ladies all week long.
