Tara

Tara Rooks is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Choreography and Performance. During her time at UNCG she trained with Duane Cyrus, Janet Lilly, Michael Job, Maurice Watson, and others, as well as performing works by Martha Graham and Bill T. Jones in New York City.

In 2018 she joined Theatre West Virginia performing in “Paradise Park” and “Hatfield’s and McCoy’s”. After graduation she spent time in Melbourne, Australia where she worked with Infinite Dance Studio as their jazz and acrobatics teacher. In 2020 she danced with the West Virginia Dance Company, under the direction of Toneta Akers-Toler performing “Souvenir: Diary”. She spent the 2021-22 season as a company member with Annex Dance Company, under the direction of Kristin Alexander, performing all over the Charleston, SC area and working at Dance Moves of Charleston.

She is thrilled to be back in North Carolina, currently residing in Chapel Hill, and recently accepted the dance teacher position for Jordan Matthews and Chatham Central High School. Tara is so excited to return to BDC this year and is looking forward to a year of creativity, growth, and passion!
